France wins two gold medals in classic team events

Murau (22/07/2016) – France celebrated two gold medals as the second competition day of the 2016 ECA Junior Wildwater Canoeing European Championships in Austria brought classic team races.

Double European crown for Martina Satkova (CZE)

Murau (21/07/2016) - The 2016 ECA Junior Wildwater Canoeing European Championships in Austria started today with individual classic race on the Mur River. Czech Republic justified their role of the favourites winning nine medals during the first competition day. Martina Satkova (CZE) won in women’s kayak and canoe events, her teammate Anežka Paloudova picked up silver medals in both events. Representatives of France, Germany and Italy also found their places on the winner’s podium.

First meeting of women in canoeing held in Spain

The Committee on Women and Canoeing of the Spanish Canoe Federation (Real Federación Española de Piragüismo) has held the first meeting ever of women in canoeing in Trasona, Spain. One of the main goals of the event was improvement of women’s participation in canoeing.


It was an unforgettable day for Spanish canoeing and most of all for the Committee on Women and Canoeing of the Real Federación Española de Piragüismo (RFEP) in their quest for promoting women’s canoeing which is a result of long-term planning. Those involved in the programme are committed to improve it in the future editions and to make it a point of reference for all the women in canoeing, to improve the social value of women in this sport as well as to give them greater recognition and promotion.

2016 ECA Junior Wildwater Canoeing European Championships starts tomorrow

19/07/2016 - The 2016 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships in Bulgaria has just ended, but there is no rest. Young European wildwater paddlers are already in Austria preparing for the 2016 ECA Junior Wildwater Canoeing European Championships. The championships in Murau, western part of the Austrian federal state of Styria, will start tomorrow.

The town of Murau, a small Austrian town with 3700 inhabitants, is the venue of this year’s ECA Junior Wildwater Canoeing European Championships. The competition will take place from Thursday until Sunday, but the opening ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow.

Eight Canoe Slalom World Champion titles for young European paddlers

Last week Krakow hosted the 2016 ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom World Championships. European paddlers did really well on the Vistula River collecting eight individual World Champion titles. In the U23 category Jakub Grigar (SVK) won in men’s K1 final, Florian Breuer (GER) in men’s C1 and Polish duo Filip Brzezinski – Andrzej Brzezinski in men’s C2 event. Ruslan Pestov (UKR) was the best in junior K1M event, Klaudia Zwolinska (POL) in women’s junior K1 final, Marko Mirgorodsky (SVK) in men’s C1 junior event, Albert Kašpar and Vojtech Mružek in junior C2M event and Tereza Fišerova in women’s junior C1 final. In fact the only two remaining individual gold medals were won by Australian Jessica Fox who was the best both in U23 women’s K1 and C1 events.
