Three days of exciting competition at the 2016 ECA European Canoe Freestyle Championships in Plattling, Germany, are over and we have new and old European Champions in this canoeing discipline. Lukas Cervinka of the Czech Republic prolonged his winning streak in men’s C1, Joaquim Fontane (ESP) picked up gold medal in men’s K1 final and Claire O’Hara (GBR) in women’s K1 final. The best junior in women’s K1 is Emma Schuck (GER) and the best junior in men’s K1 is Tom Dolle (FRA).

The 2016 ECA European Canoe Freestyle Championships in Plattling, Germany, drifts towards the final stage. The athletes are already done with the preliminary round, quarter- and semifinals and only the best are still left in the game to fight for the European Champion titles.The finals are scheduled for Saturday, starting already in the morning with the final in women’s K1 junior category, followed by final in men’s K1 junior category. C1 men will fight for the medals at midday, women’s K1 final is scheduled for 14.00 and men’s K1 final for 15.00.

Schedule: You can watch the event live on Thursday 26th from 8.00 until 19.30, on Friday 27th from 8.00 until 21.00 and on Saturday 28th from 8.30 until 15.00.
Over 110 athletes from 14 countries are ready to show their skills at the 2016 ECA European Canoe Freestyle Championships in Germany. The Europe’s best freestylers are already in the town of Plattling, which is located approximately 140 kilometres northeast of Munich. The championships full of adrenalin technical moves which are a must see for canoeing fans will take part on May 26 – 28.

European Canoe Sprint paddlers again proved that Europe is the strongest canoeing continent. During the first World Cup race of the season they picked up most of the medals in 25 events we saw in the Duisburg regatta centre. Athletes are very strong two months ahead of the most important competition of the year – 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. For many of the paddlers the performance in Duisburg was crucial to secure themselves a spot in their Olympic teams as they had to fight for their places in internal Olympic qualifications.

A long week of canoe sprint competitions in Duisburg (GER) started with Paracanoe World Championships that brought five World Champion titles to the European paddlers. Edina Müller and Tom Kierey secured gold medals for the host nation, Anne Dickins and Emma Wiggs picked up gold medals for Great Britain and Pier Alberto Buccoliero for Italy.
