27/11/2016 - After four days of exciting racing in New Zealand where athletes not only fought for wins but also for a share of $60,000 prize money fund we have names of the overall winners. European paddlers did well in three categories with Nouria Newman (FRA) taking a win in women’s kayak event, Ondrej Tunka (CZE) was the most successful in men’s kayak and Franz Anton (GER) in men’s C1. Rosalyn Lawrence (AUS) was the best in women’s C1.

26/11/2016 – The Whitewater XL race series in Auckland, New Zealand, is slowly coming to an end. In the penultimate event of the series – Saturday’s canoe slalom final – Czech kayaker Ondrej Tunka and German canoeist Franz Anton recorded their second wins of the series. The race series will conclude with boater cross event.

Today (November 25) is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Historically, the date is based on the date of the 1960 assassination of the three Mirabal sisters, political activists in the Dominican Republic; the killings were ordered by Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo. In 1981, activists marked November 25 as a day to combat and raise awareness of violence against women more broadly and in 1999 this day received its official United Nations (UN) resolution.

25/11/2016 – During the second competition day of the Whitewater XL event in New Zealand European paddlers once again won the top positions. Winners of the first competition day in women’s kayak and men’s canoe final Lizzie Neave (GBR) and Franz Anton (GER) had to settle with second place this time.
