Paddlers encounter dangerous visitor during their training

With less than 200 days remaining until the opening ceremony of the biggest sports event of the year – Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro – best paddlers are training hard to be in top shape in the season 2016. Many of the best slalom paddlers are now in Australia where they work on their skills at the 2000 Olympic Slalom Course in Penrith. One of the training days was especially unusual as they had an extremely dangerous visitor at the course. As you can see in the video made by European, World and Olympic Champion Daniele Molmenti (ITA) snake found its way not only to the river bank but also into the water. The eastern brown snake is considered the world's second most venomous land snake.

Danish BT Gold Award in the hands of René Holten Poulsen

One of the world's best canoe sprint paddlers René Holten Poulsen (DEN) has received a BT Gold (BT Guld) award for his achievements in the season 2015. He won two gold medals at World Championships in Milan, three medals at European Championships in Račice and he also picked up a bronze medal at European Games in Baku in the year 2015.
Excellent results didn’t go unnoticed among his fellow sportsmen in Denmark. 40 top Danish athletes with the right to vote gave him the highest amount of points among the ten finalists in the selection process. Besides the award he also received prize money.
“Money is of course good and I'm happy with it, but what really matters to me is the recognition, the price lies in that,” said René Holten Poulsen after receiving this award. He also pointed out that a year 2015 was really great for him not only in the sports arena but also outside sport. As he said he managed to find balance in his life. “This was the year that I have been both athletically and outside the sport more calm and balanced which meant that I performed better in kayak. The peace and balance made me much better in my sport,” added the winner of the respected award.

Congratulations!
