26/10/2016 - After the end of the season some of the athletes have taken a hard decision and decided to end their long and successful careers. The next one in line who decided it is time to say goodbye to competitive canoe slalom is Austrian Violetta Oblinger-Peters. Her biggest success in women’s kayak came in 2008 when she won a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympic Games.

San Juan (20/10/2016) - San Juan, Argentina, hosted the 2016 Canoe Freestyle World Cup events in October. European paddlers did very well in the venue which will host Canoe Freestyle World Championships next year. Tomasz Czaplicki (POL) won both World Cup events in men’s kayak (he was also second twice in squirt events), Oriol Colome – Puig (ESP) finished third in the men’s kayak event twice as well, Zofia Tula (POL) won two silver medals in women’s events, Alex Edwards (GBR) was the winner of both men’s squirt events, while Tom Dolle (FRA) showed the best skills in men’s junior kayak event as well as in canoe final. Adria Ovando-Vila (ESP) was second in junior kayak event in both World Cup events, while Valentin Parasme (FRA) won two bronze medals in the same category.

Catoira (13/10/2016) - The sixth edition of the Congress of Coaches in Sprint Canoeing in Spain starts tomorrow with the first presentations of many international and national guests who came to Catoira. This year’s attention will not be only devoted to canoe sprint, but also to paracanoeing.Biannual event attracts many experts and coaches in this canoeing discipline and this year is no exception. So far 250 coaches from 22 countries - Canada, China, South Korea, Germany, Great Britain, Belgium, Singapore, Chile, Sweden, France, India, Italy, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, Columbia, Portugal, South Africa and Spain - applied to be a part of the congress.

Cesky Krumlov (10/10/2016) – The season of International River Marathons continued in Czech Republic with the 14th edition of the Cesky Krumlov River Marathon. Similar to a week before and the Adige Marathon in Italy the K2 crews were the fastest, taking the top positions at the 36 kilometres long marathon from Vyssy Brod to Cesky Krumlov. It took two hours, six minutes and 45 seconds for Pascal Lucker (NED) and Andreas Heilinger (GER) to complete their run in K2 boat. The international duo was a bit more than two minutes faster than Czech K2 Tomaš Ježek – Jakub Zavrel and another Czech crew Karel Slepica – Tomaš Slovak finished third.
