Serghei Tarnovschi (MDA) suspended for four years

13/02/2017 – Canoe Sprint athlete Serghei Tarnovschi who represented Moldova at the 2016 Olympic Games and also won a bronze medal in men's C1 1000 metres event has been suspended for four years after his sample was positive for banned substances.

Carolin Leonhardt continues her career as an assistant trainer

12/02/2017 – German sprint canoeist Carolin Leonhardt decided to end her sporting career after the last season and to focus on new challenges. 32-year-old paddler who won three Olympic medals, three medals from the European Championships and fifteen World Championships medals will now share her sporting experiences in a role of an assistant trainer.

Spanish Olympic Committee awards Marta Felpeto Lamas, ECA BoD member

04/02/2017 - The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) awarded Marta Felpeto Lamas, ECA Board of Directors member, with their special award – Olympic golden badge, which is one of the four highest honours of the COE.


The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) awarded Marta Felpeto Lamas, the first Spanish woman to be elected to the European Canoe Association’s Board of Directors position and international canoeing technical official who also took part in the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games and 2015 Baku European Games, for her “outstanding contribution and dedication to the development of canoeing in Spain”.

Five medals for European slalomists at the 2017 Oceania Championships

31/01/2017 - The international canoe slalom season 2017 kicked off in New Zealand. Many European paddlers who are now in the Southern Hemisphere for their winter training camps took an opportunity and competed in the first major international canoe slalom event of the year 2017 – Oceania Championships, which was organised in Auckland.

ECA Junior Canoe Slalom Cups in France postponed until 2018

28/01/2017 - The organisers of the first races in the 2017 ECA Junior Canoe Slalom Cup series were forced to cancel the 2017 events in France due to the lack of water. Hardly any rain fell in Brittany since September which means the courses which were supposed to host around 180 young canoe slalom athletes do not offer good conditions for the organisation of the first ECA Junior Canoe Slalom Cup events this year.
