During the 47th annual EOC General Assembly in Marbella, Spain, the 8th Piotr Nurowski Prize was awarded to the best European Young Athletes. Among the five nominees was also Slovenian canoe slalom and wildwater canoeing paddler Eva Alina Hočevar who took the second prize of the evening.

Two medals for Doriane Delassus and Emanuela Luknarova in Buenos Aires

European paddlers had much success at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. First they won half of available medals in the head to head sprint events at the venue in Puerto Madero, and later added eight more medals in obstacle slalom competition. The most successful competitors in obstacle slalom were French representative Doriane Delassus and Slovak Emanuela Luknarova who both won medals in kayak and canoe. Slovenian paddler Lan Tominc prolonged winning streak in men’s kayak event winning third gold medal for this country in the same event.

Germany and Great Britain excell in Rio de Janeiro

Paddlers from Germany and Great Britain were the great European winners of this year's canoe slalom World Championships that was held on the 2016 Olympic course in Rio de Janeiro. Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, France, Slovakia, Slovenia, Netherlands and Italy were also among the medallists of the canoe slalom and extreme slalom events in Brazil.
