The 2019 ECA Canoe Marathon European Championships will officially kick off tomorrow with opening ceremony in Decize, France. Competitors from 21 European countries are expected to start in this year's European Championships. Races will be held every day from Thursday until Sunday.
Planned competition schedule has been modified due to expected high temperatures in France, so the morning races will start earlier and the afternoon programme will start a bit later than initially planned.
Many top level canoe marathon athletes are expected to compete in Decize, European and World Championships medallists, such as Jose Ramalho, Renata Csay, Vanda Kiszli, Adrian Boros, Lizzie Broughton, Manuel Campos, Jakub Brezina, Marcel Paufler, Liudmyla Babak, Sergio Maciel, Mateusz Borgiel, Thorbjorn Rask and many more.
On Thursday the races will start at 8 AM local time and we will follow men’s junior C1 and women’s junior K1 race. The short races are also scheduled for Thursday (men’s and women’s K1 and C1). In the last part of the day men’s K1 junior race will be held.
On Friday it will be a race day for WK2 Junior, MC1 U23, WK1 U23, MC2 Junior, MK2 Junior, WC1 Junior and MK1 U23 events. On Saturday all the senior K1 and C1 men’s and women’s events will be organised. On Sunday the championships will end with men’s and women’s K2 race and men’s C2 event.
