A new influence from the East
From its roots in the Far East, Dragon Boat Racing is fast becoming a global discipline for both competition and social interaction. These long, open canoes are paddled by 20 paddlers, or a smaller version with ten paddlers, using single-bladed paddles. Often the craft will be elaborately decorated, and include a drummer and a coxwain / helmsman.
The season 2025 will again bring the ECA Dragon Boat Nations and Clubs European Championships. The competition will be held in Italy, more precisely in Spresiano – Treviso, between 4th and 7th June 2025.

Puerto Princesa in the Philippines hosted the 2024 ICF Dragon Boat World Championships and European teams had a good share of success where Asian teams dominated in the finals. The host nation was on the top of the medals table with a total of 39 medals, Hungary and AIN won 13 each.
