The Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom World Championships in Ivrea has just finished, but there is no rest for young competitors. The 2018 ECA Junior Canoe Slalom Cup series continues this weekend in Krakow, Poland.

Eight races have been organised so far in the season 2018. The series started in Valstagna, Italy, then moved to Augsburg, Germany, Flattach, Austria, and Solkan, Slovenia. Competitors in U16 and U18 categories compete in the series.

After eight events Juš Javornik from Slovenia leads the overall standings in men’s C1 U18 category ahead of Slovak Miroslav Korinek and Italian Flavio Micozzi. In the C1M U16 category Juraj Dieska from Slovakia occupies the top position followed by Kurts Adams Rozentals from Great Britain and Martino Barzon from Italy.

Kurts Adams Rozentals is not only successful in canoe but leads the rankings in men’s K1 U16 category with 320 points. Lucas Augu from France is second and Matej Blascik from Slovakia third in this category. Two Slovenian paddlers are among the top three in men’s K1 U18 category. Lenart Burgar (SLO) leads three points ahead of Italian Marco Romano, while Vid Oštrbenk (SLO) is third.

Italians are leading the standings in both women’s K1 age categories. Enrica Giacimello leads in front of Croatian Katja Bengeri and Kamila Safina in the U18 category, while Milena Marini shares the top position with Slovenian Sara Belingar and Ivana Chlebova from Slovakia is currently third in the U16 K1W event.
