All the heats are done, Auronzo awaits finals on Saturday and Sunday 29.6.2018

The second competition day of the 2018 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships in Auronzo di Cadore brought the remaining finalists in the 1000 and 500 metres events and all the heats in the 200 metres events. On Saturday the first medals will be awarded in the 1000 metres finals.


 
Morning part of the competition on the Santa Caterina Lake was dedicated to the semifinal races in 500 and 1000 events to determine who will join yesterday’s best competitors who have secured themselves places in the finals after strong performances in the heats. The 1000 metres finals are scheduled for Saturday, while 500 metres final races follow on Sunday.
 
 
 
The afternoon part of the championships gave the names of the first finalists in the 200 metres events. The opening race in this distance was women’s junior C1 event where Laura Ruiz from France produced the fastest time of all competitors on the startline of this event to advance directly to Sunday’s final.
 
 
 
Lithuania had two competitors finishing the first stage of the 200 metres event with the best time. Arturas Seja was the fastest in men’s U23 heats and Vadim Korobov followed teammate’s footsteps in men’s U23 C1 heats.
 
 
 
Dorota Borowska from Poland had the best time of the day in women’s U23 C1 event and Serbian Biljana Relić advanced to the final with the fastest time in women’s K1 U23 event.
 
 
 
Matuš Jedinak from Slovakia was the best in men’s K1 junior heats, Russian Nikita Nekrasov in men’s junior C1 200 metres heats and Ina Sauchuk from Belarus in women’s junior K1 200 metres event. In the final event of the day Maria Olarasu and Daniela Cociu from Moldova set the best time in women’s junior C2 200 metres heats.
 
 
On Saturday the day will start with B and A finals in the 1000 metres events, followed by semifinal races in the 200 metres events.
