Another great day in the office for Czechia 4.7.2024

The second competition day of the 2024 ECA Junior and U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships in Dallenwil, Switzerland, brought the team classic events and another successful day for Czechia that won six gold medals, Germany and Italy also took the top podium position.


The second day of racing at the Engelberger Aa River and another domination of Czechia, this is the outcome of the classic team events in junior and U23 age groups of the 2024 ECA Junior and U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships in Dallenwil, close to Luzern.
 
However, the first two gold medals of the day went to Germany and Italy. Nicholas Niederle - Gomez, Philipp Bluhm and Finn Vogler set the time 14:08.454, which no other team could beat and they celebrated team European Champion title in men's junior kayak team event. France finished second and Czechia third.
 
Junior kayakers from Italy Cecilia Leonori, Maddalena Marconi and Sofia Scattolini were crowned European Champions in women's kayak, finishing the race 4.800 seconds ahead of French team, while Czechs picked up another bronze medal.
 
The remaining of the competition day was completely Czech. Samuel Vejnar, Vojtech Matejicek and Jan Sindelar were the fastest team in men's K1 U23 event, winning the gold medal with more than eight seconds better time than Belgium in second place. Slovenia was third, almost 23 seconds behind.
 
Klara Vankova, Anna Retkova and Kristina Novosadova (CZE) picked up gold medal in women's U23 team classic race. The Czech trio was 6.050 seconds faster than British team with Kerry and Emma Christie and Lucy Guest, while France won bronze medal.
 
Both men's canoe team events ended with Czech celebration. Ondrej Kvapil, Filip Kutin and Tobias Trnka were the best in junior event, and their teammates Matej Vanek, Adam Ondrich and Matous Beier dominated in the U23 race. They were more than 25 seconds faster than France, while Germany was almost a minute behind. France was second also in men's junior C1 event, and Slovakia won bronze medal among juniors.
 
Magdalena Mala, Marie Vrbova and Sandra Bergmannova (CZE) were the best in women's junior canoe team race, where Italian and French teams joined them on the winner's podium.
 
Vanek - Rasner, Ondrich - Vejnar and Nemec - Veseli (CZE) were the fastest in men's U23 C2 team classic race, where France won silver medal and Italy finished third.
 
Women's C1 U23 event was non-official European Championships event, where Czechia won ahead of Great Britain and Spain.
 
On Friday, the European Championships in Switzerland continues with sprint heats, starting at 9.30 local time.
