President of the Spanish Canoe Federation Javier Hernanz was understandably thrilled with the results Spanish athletes had in the year 2023: "We had a dream season and therefore it is impossible to list all the results achieved, but the most significant fact of this season is that we have qualified for the Olympic Games 19 of the 22 possible quotas, leaving 20th and 21st, less than one tenth of qualifying, and breaking our historical record for direct classification."
It was not an easy task to decide who was the best of the best in Spain, but at the end canoe sprinters Antia Jacome and Rodrigo Germade received the awards for paddlers of the year in Spain.
