Austrian National Championships titles in Canoe Slalom awarded in Vienna 15.7.2020

Paddlers from Klagenfurt Kayak Club were the most successful at Austrian National Championships which took place in Vienna Watersports Arena.

Vienna Watersports Arena hosted Austrian Canoe Slalom National Championships in compliance with official requirements in effect during the Covid-19 pandemic time. In absence of some of the biggest names of Austrian canoeing – Corinna Kuhnle, Viktoria Wolffhardt and Nina Weratchnig – all four National titles went to the hands of members of Klagenfurt Kayak Club.

The race consisted of two runs with the best time counting for a final result. In women’s kayak event Antonia Oschmautz took the title ahead of Olympic Games medallist Violetta Oblinger – Peters who ended her very successful international career in 2016. Katrin Reithmayr finished third. The national title in women’s C1 went to the hands of Nadine Weratschnig.

In men’s kayak event Felix Oschmautz picked up gold medal ahead of Mario Leitner who was 2.53 seconds behind with one penalty touch, and Pauli Preisl took the bronze medal. Last year’s defending champion Christopher Kremslehner finished fourth. Timo Haslmaier is the new National Champion in men’s C1.
