Benuš, Lafont, Fišerova and Prskavec won in Prague 5.8.2019

Prague hosted the penultimate race in this year’s ECA European Open Canoe Slalom Cup race series. Matej Benuš, Marie-Zelia Lafont, Tereza Fišerova and Jiri Prskavec were the winners in each of the four categories that are part of the European Cup series.


Slovak canoeist and 2016 Olympic medallist Matej Benuš was the fastest in men’s canoe final at Vltava River. Despite the touch and two seconds penalty he finished the race more than two seconds ahead of Czech canoeist Tomaš Rak. Marko Mirgorodsky from Slovakia finished the race in third place.
 
Marie-Zelia Lafont from France was the fastest in women’s kayak final. She was more than five seconds faster than Luuka Jones from New Zealand, while Czech kayaker Barbora Valikova finished the final run in third place.
 
Tereza Fišerova won gold medal in women’s canoe final. French paddler Lucie Prioux picked up four penalty seconds in her final run, but still managed to finish the race in second place. Slovak canoeist Emanuela Luknarova was third.
 
In the last final of the day all the medals stayed in Czech Republic. Jiri Prskavec produced the best time to pick up gold medal, Ondrej Tunka was 1.81 seconds behind in second place and Vit Prindiš finished third.
 
The last race of this year’s inaugural ECA European Open Canoe Slalom Cup will beheld next weekend in Bratislava, Slovakia.
