We are two months away of the first ECA European Championships in the season 2019. The 2019 ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Championships will take place in Bovec and Kobarid, Slovenia, between 14th and 18th May 2019.
The picturesque Soča Valley is a must visit destination for all wildwater paddlers, and it is no surprise that Soča River hosts major canoeing events every year, whether in Solkan where the canoe slalom course is located, or up north in Bovec.
Bovec and Kobarid will co-host this year’s ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Championships. The championships will be organised in the same location as the 2013 edition of ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Championships. The same venue also hosted World Championships and World Cup races in the past.
Opening ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, 14th May, in Bovec. The actual races will be held a couple of kilometres away in Trnovo ob Soči, where individual classic race will be organised on Wednesday, and a day later team classic race will follow. On Friday we will follow heats of individual wildwater sprint events and on Saturday the championships will conclude with individual and team finals in wildwater sprint. Masters events are also in the competition programme of the championships.
