Cancellation of the 2025 ECA Dragon Boat European Championships

Cancellation of the 2025 ECA Dragon Boat European Championships 4.4.2025

This year, Spresiano, a commune in the Province of Treviso in the Italian region Veneto, located about 40 kilometres north of Venice, was supposed to host the 2025 ECA Dragon Boat European Championships. However, the organisers have informed the European Canoe Association that they are withdrawing from organising the event, which was originally scheduled for the first week of June (4–7 June).

Two months before the start of the 2025 ECA Dragon Boat European Championships, the European Canoe Association received a letter from the Italian organisers expressing their intention to cancel the competition scheduled for June, as fewer teams than expected had confirmed their participation. After careful consideration, the ECA Dragon Boat Technical Committee forwarded the proposal for cancellation to the ECA Board of Directors, which then approved the cancellation of this year’s championships. At the same time, the recently appointed ECA Dragon Boat Technical Committee announced changes and is already actively working on a new strategy for the development of the discipline.
