Slovak capital Bratislava will turn into the wildwater capital this week. The wildwater course in Čunovo will host two European Championships: the 2018 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships and at the same time also the 2018 ECA Canoe Freestyle European Championships.

 

Between Thursday and Sunday we will be able to follow a little less than 100 participants from 15 European countries that will fight for the Canoe Freestyle European Champion titles. Among the athletes coming from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden and Slovakia, we can find many stars, canoe freestyle European and World Champions.

 

 

France will have high hopes with their team members, including Marlene Devillez, Sebastien Devred and Tom Dolle, Spain undoubtedly with Joaquim Fontane I Maso, Great Britain with young champions Ottilie Robinson Shaw and Harry Price, Czech Republic with Lukaš Červinka, Poland with Tomasz Czaplicki and Zofia Tula, Slovakia will be represented by Nina Csonkova and Peter Csonka among others.

 

 

The opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday, August 15th, and the first competitions will follow a day later. The two championships will be run simultaneously. The freestyle competition will be held in one part of the channel and canoe slalom in the other one. The two events also have a similar time schedule. Thursday’s competition will start at 9:00 with men’s K1 preliminary round, followed by men’s C1 preliminary round and women’s junior K1 event. On Friday we will follow women’s K1 preliminary round and men’s K1 Junior event. On Saturday the semifinals in men’ junior, and men’s and women’s K1 event will be organised. On Sunday the canoe freestyle European Championships will conclude with men’s and women’s junior K1, men’s C1 and men’s/women’s senior K1 finals.
