European canoe slalom teams have been very successful at this year’s Canoe Slalom World Chmapionships which was the first qualifying event to acquire the Olympic quotas for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Nineteen European teams have managed to secure at least one quota place for the Olympic Games which will be held next year in Tokyo. Five countries won quotas in all four events –Czech Republic, Spain, France, Great Britain and Slovenia were the most successful ones. Three quotas were won by Austria, Germany, Italy and Slovakia, two quotas were won by Poland, Russia and Switzerland, while one quota went to Andorra, Croatia, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and Ukraine.
