Canoe Slalom paddlers competed at pre-Olympic race in Tokyo 27.10.2019

A week after Tokyo hosted the NHK Cup it was time for the official pre-Olympic test event. All the medals in four Olympic events went to European hands. Thomas Koechlin was the best in men’s C1 final, Ricarda Funk in women’s K1, Mallory Franklin in women’s C1, while Hannes Aigner and David Llorente shared the win in men’s kayak final.


German kayaker Hannes Aigner and Spanish paddler David Llorente set the equal time in men’s kayak final of the pre-Olympic test event in Japan to share the top podium position. Felix Oschmautz from Austria was third.
 
Mallory Franklin from Great Britain set the best time in women’s C1 final, winning the race ahead of Nuria Vilarrubla from Spain and Andrea Herzog from Germany.
 
German kayaker Ricarda Funk produced the best final run in women’s K1. Reigning European Champion Amalie Hilgertova from Czech Republic finished second and Luuka Jones from New Zealand was third.
 
Swiss paddler Thomas Koechlin was unbeatable in men’s canoe final. World Champion Cedric Joly from France finished second and Benjamin Savšek, the 2019 European Champion, was third.
