Canoe Sprint officially part of the 2019 European Games

Great news for all canoe sprint fans: it has been officially confirmed that canoe sprint events will be part of the 2019 European Games in Minsk, Belarus. The second edition of the European Games will be organised between 21 and 30 June 2019.  


The canoe sprint part of the European Games will be held on a known venue - Zaslavl regatta course, which also hosted the 2016 ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships. And not only will canoe sprint be a part of the European Games, the events will also act as Olympic Qualifiers, according to Inside the Games. As reported on their website 11 of 16 sports that are part of the European Games will act as Olympic qualifiers, except for gymnastics and wrestling which will be the only Olympic sports which will not have qualifiers in Minsk, as well as non-Olympic sports that are part of the European games: Beach soccer, 3x3 basketball and sambo.
 
At the EX Co EOC meeting which was held in Skopje, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Albert Woods OBE, president of the European Canoe Association, has been chosen as a member of the Coordination Commission for the Minsk 2019 European Games.
