The Canoe Sprint competition at the Kraków-Małopolska 2023 European Games starts on Wednesday 21 June on the opening day of the European Games. The first day of the competition at the Kryspinow Waterway will feature the races in six medal events.
The opening day of Canoe Sprint competition at the Kraków-Małopolska 2023 European Games starts with the heats in the 500 metres disciplines in the crew boats.
In the morning session of the first day of the competition at the Kryspinow Waterway, which starts at 09:08, the crews will battle it out in the heats for the direct places in the final, while the afternoon session, which starts at 15:38 is reserved for the semifinal races.
The competition at the Games, which is effectively the European Championships in Canoe Sprint, will be opened by heats in K4, with men’s kayak four being the second event of the day with boats from 15 National Olympic Committees.
This most prestigious event of the day has been dominated in recent years by the crews from Germany, Spain and Slovakia in the men's competition, but with the crews from Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden and Ukraine, the competition at the 2023 European Games promises exciting and tough races.
The medals in this event will be awarded on the third competition day.
The rest of the programme for the first competition day will see the crews in C2 and K2 take part in the heats and the semifinals respectively.
European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 is Europe's biggest multidisciplinary sporting event in 2023. More than 7 thousand athletes are competing in 26 sports and 29 disciplines for 253 gold medals. More than that, the European Games 2023 are part of the qualification process for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 in 19 sports. This great celebration of sports starts with the opening ceremony in Krakow on 21st of June. The closing ceremony will take place on July 2nd.
