The Awards, which were co-hosted by Canoeing Ireland’s Ciaran ‘Kipper’ Magiure, and multiple international medallist Jenny Egan-Simmons, recognised athletes from each of the competition disciplines, and also those who contributed as volunteers, in clubs and in wider community. The year 2024 was a year to remember for Canoeing Ireland with several medal winners, including Freestyle bronze medallist Eoghan Kelly, freestyle junior European Champion Leah Hough, marathon gold medallist Sean Butterly (also a silver medallist in Canoe Sprint).
The night was capped off with Lynda Byrne being presented with a lifetime achievement Award. In addition to being the first female president of Canoeing Ireland, Lynda was also instrumental in bringing the ICF Women in Sport Symposium to Dublin.
