Denmark, Germany and France victorious at ECA Canoe Polo Cup in Milan 1.6.2022

Milan’s Idroscalo hosted the ECA Canoe Polo European Cup tournament on a venue, well known for hosting major canoe sprint events, including European and World Championships. After the two days of tournament in Italy, Denmark celebrated in men’s senior division, Germany in women’s division and France in men’s U21 division.


The great winners of the senior men’s tournament were members of team Denmark, who beat Germany 4-3. Andreas Kaad Iversen scored twice, while Kristian Muller Kleist and Martin Eybye Norregaard each contributed a goal for the final win at the tournament. In the German team Jonas Vieren scored twice and Rene Kirchhoff once.
 
The bronze medal match between France in Spain concluded with a win for France (6-3). Their players were in a good shooting form, scoring six times. Benoit Richer scored three times, Baptiste Cotta twice and Camille Richer once. On the other side Ivan Hoyo Fuentes scored twice for Spain and Alejandro Valls added a goal.
 
Italian team A finished the tournamentin fifth place, team Italy B was sixth, Great Britain 7th, Netherlands 8th, Switzerland 9th and Poland 10th.
 
In women’s part of the tournament Germany won 3 – 1 in a gold medal match against France thanks to Elena Gilles, Hannah Kunz and Katharina Magdalena Kruse who each scored once. Camille Meyer was the only scorer of the game in French team.
 
Italy celebrated bronze medal in a tight match against Netherlands (6-5). Roberta Catania (2x), Silvia Cogoni (2x), Martina Anastasi and Magddalena Lago were4 successful scorers in the home team, while Charlotte Bkkes (3x), Marieke Van Hofslot and Linda Van As scored for Netherlands.
 
Spain concluded the tournament in 5th position, Germany U21was 6th, Denmark 7th, Switzerland 8th, Great Britain 9th, Spain U21 10th and Italy U21 11th.
 
Nine teams took part in the U21 men’s tournament. Sonny Boucher, Shani Benkatti and Antony Vasseur (2x) were those who defeated the Spain’s defense to score four goals for France and the final results 4-3. Josep Murillo Tarrega, Diego Guinot Sorribes and David Beltran were scorers for the Spanish u21 team.
 
The bronze medal match between Italy A and Poland concluded with Italian win (8-3) thanks to Gaetano Lampo’ (3x), Pietro Iuvara (2x), Francesco Barbagallo, AlessandroSchiano Di Cola andMichele Ibba. Szymon Kaliszek, Bartlomiej Wardak and Pawel Rachuba scored for Poland.
 
Germany was fifth in the men’s U21 tournament, Denmark 6th, Switzerland 7th, Great Britain 8th and Italy B 9th.
 
There are a couple of major international canoe polo events scheduled in the upcoming months. Canoe Polo will be featured in the World Games in United States of America, there is canoe polo World Championships in Saint-Omer in August and ECA Clubs European Championships in Belfast in September (24-25/9).
