ECA celebrates 25th anniversary with interesting events in 2018 13.2.2018

European Canoe Association will celebrate the 25th anniversary since its founding in 1993 with some exciting events which are ahead of us in the year 2018. This season will bring Senior and Junior/U23 European Championships in both Olympic disciplines – canoe slalom and canoe sprint, paracanoeing European Championships, canoe marathon European Championships, Freestyle canoeing European Championships, Ocean Racing European Championships and Junior/U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships. We will also see Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships, ECA Canoe Polo Cups as well as European Cup races in Wildwater canoeing and canoe slalom.


ECA’s events will traditionally begin in April with ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Cups which will be organised in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In May European Canoe Polo teams will travel to Italian fashion capital. Milan will host the first ECA Canoe Polo European Cup of the year.
 
First European Championships of the season will be held between 1st and 3rd June. Prague will welcome best European Canoe Slalom paddlers who will fight for the senior European Champion titles on the Vltava River. Only a weekend later canoe sprinters and paracanoeists will have European Championships in Belgrade. The event will be very important for all European teams. It has been confirmed that the Canoe Sprint European Championships in Serbia will be qualification event for the 2019 European Games in Minsk. At the end of the month the best young canoe sprinters will travel to Auronzo for the 2018 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships. June will also bring ECA Canoe Polo European Cup in Belgium and ECA Canoe Slalom Junior European Cups in Valstagna, Augsburg and Flattach.
 
Early in July Metković, Croatia, will host Canoe Marathon European Championships. Neighbouring country – Slovenia – will also organise an event. Emerald Soča River will welcome young canoe slalom paddlers at the ECA Canoe Slalom Junior European Cup in Solkan.
 
August will begin with Junior and U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships in Skopje. Young athletes will compete on Treska River in Matka Canyon, on the same venue which hosted last year’s Senior Wildwater canoeing European Championships. Two events will be held in Bratislava. Slovak capital will have two European Championships in the same week. The interesting canoeing festival will begin with Canoe Freestyle European Championships and continue with Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships. A lot will be happening in Czech Republic as well. There will be organised several wildwater canoeing events for juniors and seniors under the name ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Cup. The races will be held in Česke Budejovice, Roudnice and Lipno.
 
In September there will be another canoe polo event – 2018 ECA Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships in Nottingham, Great Britain. Exciting season of European Championships will end early in October. Villajoyosa, a Spanish town close to Alicante, will host this year’s Ocean Racing European Championships.
