ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Cup continued in Banja Luka 9.9.2024

One of traditional venues of the ECA Wildwater Canoeing competitions – Banja Luka – hosted the ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup race. Wins went to Serbia, North Macedonia, Croatia and host nation – Bosnia and Herzegovina.


The Vrbas River was once again the location of international Wildwater Canoeing competition under the auspices of the ECA. Athletes from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and North Macedonia took part in the ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup.
 
In men’s kayak senior event Serbia’s Marko Marjanović won the race with the best time of the first run (60.93). He was 2.73 seconds faster than Croatian Josip Slošnjak who finished second, while Neven Kleut from Serbia picked up bronze medal. He was 3.60 seconds behind his compatriot.
 
Croatian canoeist Janko Presečki produced the fastest time in men’s canoe senior event. He also set the better time in his first run of the day (75.10). Serbian canoeist Pavle Zdravković was second, only 0.51 seconds behind, while Croatian Tomislav Hohnjec won third place (+3.81).
 
Hohnjec and Presečki joined forces in men’s C2 senior event, winning the race with over two seconds better time than their closest rivals Pavle Zdravković – Ognjen Perovanović from Serbia. Uroš and Aljoša Travar from Bosnia and Herzegovina were third (14.52).
 
North Macedonia celebrated a double win men’s junior K1 final, with Kristijan Lazarov (63.63) winning gold medal, and Blagoj Guginov (both MKD) finishing 3.60 seconds behind. Aljoša Travar (BIH) was third, 3.92 seconds behind. In women’s junior kayak final all three podium positions were won by Serbian representatives. Sara Djurdjić won ahead of Una Lukić (+0.96) and Maša Ristić (+1.14). David Knežević and Nemanja Stanković were the only crew on the start of junior’s C2 event.
