The reigning K1M European Champion Peter Kauzer (SLO) reached the top position once again this season. At the traditional canoe slalom world cup race in Augsburg he produced the best run of all kayakers in the final to finish the race ahead of Jiri Prskavec (CZE) and Hannes Aigner (GER). Sideris Tasiadis (GER) recorded his second world cup win of the season in front of his home crowd and Jasmin Schornberg – Thomas Becker won another gold medal for Germany in C2 mix.
Alexander Slafkovsky (SVK) was for the third time in this year’s world cup series second, while Luka Božič (SLO) picked up bronze medal in men’s C1. Mallory Franklin (GBR) had an excellent weekend with two silver medals in women’s kayak and canoe final. Both times only Australian Jessica Fox paddled faster than her. Eva Terčelj (SLO) was third in women’s kayak final. Two more medals for European paddlers came in C2 mix event, where Tereza Fišerova and Jakub Jane won silver medal and Veronika Vojtova –Jan Mašek were third (all CZE).
The World Cup series will resume at the end of August and early in September with races in Slovenia and Spain.
