Europeans dominant in Canoe Slalom World Cup Overall standings 1.10.2024

The 2024 ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup series concluded with the final race at the 1992 Olympic course in La Seu d’Urgell and the overall champions of the series all known. European representatives once again dominated.


Five races were held in the 2024 ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup series. The season kicked off in Augsburg, then continued in Prague and Krakow, while the second part of the series led athletes to Ivrea and La Seu d’Urgell.
 
In women’s kayak event, Germany’s Ricarda Funk took the overall win despite missing out the race Krakow. She won 252 points, and France’s Emma Vuitton had 244 points to win second place in the overall standings. Australia’s Jessica Fox was third, she missed a race in Ivrea and had 239 points.
 
France’s Anatole Delassus was the winner of men’s K1 overall standings (260 points). Second place went to Italy’s Giovanni de Gennaro (241 points), who will remember the year 2024. First he became European Champion, and later he crowned his career with Olympic Champion title. Slovenia’s Peter Kauzer won third place in the overall standings (226 points) at the age of 41, proving the age is just a number.
 
Matej Benus of Slovakia, who won his second Olympic medal in Paris, was the best in men’s C1 overall standings with 257 points. Young Slovenian paddler Ziga Lin Hocevar, who became senior European Champion in May, and dominated at Junior and U23 European and World Championships, was second (242 points), while Great Britain’s Ryan Westley concluded the 2024 World Cup season in third place (223 points).
 
Fox was the best in women’s canoe overall standings with a total of 295 points. Martina Satkova of Czechia was second with 231 points. Only a point less had her younger sister Gabriela Satkova, who was third overall, and did not start at two races.
 
Joseph Clarke was the winner of very tight men’s kayak cross overall standings, having won just one point more (216) than Brazil’s Pedro Goncalves (215), while France’s Mathurin Madore won third place overall (152).
 
In women’s kayak cross overall standings two British paddlers took the top positions. Kimberely Woods won with a total of 219 points, while Mallory Franklin concluded the season with 201 points. Australia’s Jessica Fox was third with 154 points.
