In the current Canoe Sprint World Rankings, the following competitions were included: 2023 CAC Canoe Sprint African Championships Abuja (NGR), 2024 OCC Canoe Sprint Oceania Championships Sydney (AUS), 2024 ACC Canoe Sprint Asian Championships Tokyo (JPN), 2024 COPAC Canoe Sprint Pan American Championships Sarasota (USA), 2024 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup Szeged (HUN), 2024 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup Poznan (POL), 2024 ECA Canoe Sprint European Championships, 2024 ICF U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships Plovdiv (BUL), Paris 2024 Olympic Games - Canoe Sprint (FRA) and the 2024 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships Samarkand (UZB).
Swedish kayaker Melina Andersson is at the top of the rankings in two women’s events – both the WK1 1000m and the WK1 5000m. In the 1000m event, she concluded the year with 264 points, which is 80 more points than second placed Franziska Widmer (SUI) and Justyna Iskrzycka (POL) is third with a total of 183 points. In the 5000 event Andersson gathered 323 points, Hungarian Emese Kohalmi is second with 200 points and Miriam Vega (ESP) is third with 156 points.
Like Andersson, Portuguese canoe sprinter Fernando Pimenta concluded the year with two top positions, also over 1000 and 5000 metres. In the 1000 metres rankings Pimenta holds the first place with a total of 324 points, here Martin Nathell (SWE) is second with 250 points, and Jakob Thordsen (GER) third with 204 points. In the 5000 metres event Pimenta gathered 390 points, Sweden’s Joakim Lindberg is second with 254 points and Slovenian Jost Zakrajsek is third with 208 points.
Moldova’s Serghei Tarnovschi was dominating in men’s canoe. He holds the top position in the 500 metres event with 290 points, ahead of Ukraine’s Taras Mazovsky (192 points) and Germany’s Conrad-Robin Scheibner (188), while Tarnovschi shares the first place with Poland’s Wiktor Glazunow in men’s C1 1000 metres event (both 224 points). Zakhar Petrov (AIN) is third with 210 points. Tarnovscvhi is in the top three in the men’s C1 5000 World Ranking, finishing the year in third position in this standing, behind Balazs Adolf (HUN) and Dmytro Yanchuk (UKR). Adolf won 282 points, Yanchuk 202 and Tarnovschi 172 points.
Jakub Stepun (POL; 360 points), Badri Kavelashvili (GEO; 262 points) and Oleksandr Zaitsev (UKR; 260 points) were the best three kayakers in men’s K1 200 metres event in the season 2024, and are occupying the top three positions in this event. Polish kayaker is at the top of the men’s K1 500 meters event too, here Slawomir Witczak showed the best performances of the year, earning 338 points. Fernando Pimenta (POR) finished second in the world ranking of the K1 500 event with 280 points, while Austrian Timon Maurer won 237 points and was third in the World Ranking standings. Poland’s Oleksii Koliadych is the best in the MC1 200 standings (400 points), followed by Zaza Nadiradze (GEO; 328 points) and Pablo Grana (ESP; 180 points).
Slovenia’s Spela Ponomarenko Janic was the best in women’s 200 metres events concluding the year 2024 in the first place of the World Ranking with 262 points. Denmark’s Bolette Nyvan Iversen was second (212 points) and China’s Mengdie Yin third (200 points). New Zealand’s Aimee Fisher was the best in women’s 500 metres event, earning 300 points. Hungarian Tamara Csipes won second place in the world ranking with 190 points, while Serbia’s Milica Novakovic finished third (180 points).
Women’s canoe world ranking in the two longest distances is dominated by Czech Martina Malikova who is at the top in the 1000 and 5000 metres events. In the 1000 metres event she shares the top position with Chinese Xina Jiang (both 182 points), and Valeriia Tereta (UKR; 166 points) is third. In the 5000 world ranking Malikova ended the season with 213 points, ahead of Ukrainian Tereta (272 points) and Briton Anna Palmer (186 points). In the 500 metres event Croatian Vanesa Tot occupies the first place in the world ranking with 208 points, second is Alena Nazdrova (AIN; 174 points), and Olympia Della Giustina (ITA; 164 points) is third. The best in the season 2024 in the 200 metres event is Poland’s Dorota Borowska with 278 points, Antia Jacome is second (ESP; 238 points), and Katie Vincent (CAN; 200 points) is third.
