Favourites safely through to the finals of the 2018 ECA Canoe Freestyle European Championships 18.8.2018

The penultimate phase of the 2018 ECA Canoe Freestyle European Championships in Bratislava is done and all the finalists who will fight for the European Champion titles on Sunday are known. On Saturday Tom Dolle (K1M Junior), Zofia Tula (K1W) and Joaquim Fontane I Maso (K1M) won the semi-final stage of the respective events. All three were in the leading positions already in the preliminaries. 


Junior kayakers opened the third competition day of the 2018 ECA Canoe Freestyle European Championships with semi-final perfomances. It was once more French representative Tom Dolle who showed the best skills to reach the Sunday's final with the highest semi-final score of the event. 2016 European Junior Champion received 1220,00 points in his first run and this was the score that put him into the first position. Matthew Stephenson from Great Britain finished second in the semi-final and Harry Price, also from Great Britain, was third. Valentin Parasme (FRA) and Alex Ludlow (GBR) will also start in Sunday's Junior K1 final. 
 
Zofia Tula from Poland was the winner of women's K1 semi-final. Her score was 763,33 and Anne Huebner from Germany received 550,00 points to finish the day in the second position. Islay Crosbie (GBR) was third with a total of 503,33 points. Marlene Devillez (FRA) was fourth in the semi-final stage and the last competitor who secured herself a place in the final was Nina Csonkova (SVK). 
 
Reigning World and European Champion in men's K1 Joaquim Fontane I Maso (ESP) received 1453,33 points for his tricks in the first semifinal run which put him in the first position after the second competition stage. Tomasz Czaplicki (POL) followed him in the second position with a total of 1331,67 points he received for his second performance of the day. Peter Csonka (SVK) was closely behind in a third place with 1316,67 points. French paddler Sebastian Devred will also start in the final as well as Bartosz Czauderna from Poland. 
 
Sunday's programme will start at 10:00 with women's junior K1 final and men's C1. After the break K1M junior, K1W and K1M will fight for the medals.
