Favourites safely through to the semifinal of Canoe Freestyle European Championships 29.8.2024

The 2024 ECA Canoe Freestyle European Championships in Graz continued with women’s junior kayak, men’s and women’s canoe preliminary round, and men’s and women’s kayak quarterfinal.


French representatives Abel Thevenet and Tom Dolle were at the top of the scoreboard in men’s senior canoe preliminary round of the 2024 ECA Canoe Freestyle European Championships. Thevenet concluded the day with a total of 2345.00 points, while Dolle acquired 1680.00 points. Harry Price (GBR) was third in the preliminary round with 1576.66 points. Representatives from Ireland, Germany and Spain also advanced to Friday’s semifinal.
 
Otillie Robinson – Shaw, who was already the best in women’s kayak preliminary round, did the same in canoe preliminary round. British competitor won in the first round of competition with 1396.66 points, her compatriot Rebekah Green was second with 690.00 points, while Polish Zofia Tula concluded the day with 666.66 points. Athletes from Germany, Austria, Ireland and France will also fight for the final spots and a chance to win European Champion title.
 
Ireland’s Leah Hough was the best in the preliminary round of women’s junior kayak event. She scored 1766.66 points to finish the day at the top of the table, Maja Kawczynska from Poland was second with 536.66 points, while Jule Sax from Germany received 530.00 points for third place. Finland, Spain and Norway will also have their representatives in the semifinal.
 
Toby Marlow (GBR) was the best in men’s senior kayak quarterfinal thanks to 3276.66 points he received for his performance. Polish paddler Tomasz Czaplicki was second with 3240.00 points and Harry Price (GBR) third with 3190.00 points. Tom Dolle, the defending champion from the 2021 European Championships, advanced to the semifinal with ninth result of the semifinal.
 
Zofia Tula from Poland was the best in women’s kayak quarterfinal. She received 2196.67 points, Otilliue Robinson - Shaw, the defending champion and the best in the preliminary round, was second in quarterfinal with 2123.33 points. Rebekah Green (GBR) was third in the second phase of the competition with 1448.33 points.
 
On Friday, the competition will start at 10:00 CET with men’s junior kayak semifinal, and continue with women’s and men’s canoe semifinal, women’s junior kayak semifinal, and conclude with senior women’s and men’s kayak semifinal.
