First Canoe Sprint medals to be awarded on Thursday 21.6.2023
The second day of competition in Canoe Sprint at the Kraków-Małopolska 2023 European Games will feature heats in in four disciplines over 200 metres in the morning session. The afternoon session promises a lot of excitement with four sets of medals to be awarded, but equally as exciting will be the semifinals and heats in two mixed events.

The day will start with heats in men’s C1 200 where the regining European champion Henrikas ZUSTAUTAS (LTU), the 2018 continental champion Zaza NADIRADZE (GEO) and the world champion in C4 500 Pablo GRANA (ESP). In the women’s C1 200 Maria CORBERA (ESP) and Liudmyla LUZAN (UKR) will get the chance to qualify to their second event final at the Kryspinow Waterway at this year’s European Championships.

The list of names in one of the most exciting disciplines, the K1 200 present at the Games is just astounding. For the place in the final there will be three former European champions: Marko DRAGOSAVLJEVIC (SRB), Carlos GARROTE (ESP) and Petter MENNING (SWE), as well as the former world champion Andrea DI LIBERTO (ITA). In the women’s competition the double regining European champion Emma JORGENSEN (DEN) will try to go for the hat-trick against Milica NOVAKOVIC (SRB), Spela PONOMARENKO JANIC (SLO), Anna Lucz (HUN) and a number of up-and-coming stars.

The afternoon session will feature four finals: C2 500 in both gender categories, as well as men’s K2 and women’s K4 500 metres.

After the first four medal awarding ceremonies the fans at the Kryspinow Waterway will be able to enjoy the C2 and K2 200 mixed events. Reports from the frst day of competition can be found here.

European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 is the Europe’s biggest multidisciplinary sporting event in 2023. More than 7 thousand athletes are competing in 26 sports and 29 disciplines for 253 gold medals. More than that, European Games 2023 are part of the qualification process for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 in 19 sports. This great celebretion of sports starts with opening ceremony in Krakow on 21st of June. The closing ceremony will take place on July 2nd.
