Former ECA Board member and Vice President Halina Pikula passed away 1.4.2025

European Canoeing mourns the passing of Halina Pikula at the age of 71. A passionate sports enthusiast, Pikula served for many years as an ECA Board member. She was also the Secretary General of the Polish Canoe Federation from 1983 to 2009.


Halina Pikula devoted decades of her life to Polish sport. From 1983 to 2009, she worked as Secretary General of the Polish Canoe Federation. During this time, she also served on the European Canoe Association's Board of Directors, held the position of Vice President of the ECA, and was a continental representative on the Board of Directors of the International Canoe Federation.
 
In addition to her work with the Canoe Federation, Pikula had a broad impact across other sports. She also served as Secretary General of the Polish Badminton Federation, and since 2013, she held the same role with the Polish Weightlifting Federation. In 2016, she briefly acted as the president of the federation.
 
We would like to express our sincere condolences to her family and friends. Halina, rest in peace.
