Four teams on day one of the 2024 ECA Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships undefeated 14.9.2024

The 2024 ECA Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships in Bacoli – Naples is in a full swing. There are 25 teams in men's part and 15 teams in women's part of the tournament fighting for the glory and the title of the Canoe Polo Clubs European Champions.


In women’s part of the 2024 ECA Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships in Bacoli – Naples, Italy, 15 teams from France, Spain, Switzerland, Great Britain, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Italy are fighting for the title. The defending champions Avranches from France made a very good start to the tournament with 12 points in the group stage. They played four matches in Group A on Saturday and won them all. The same managed to do the MKC Duisburg in Group C, producing four wins in a day. In group B, two teams concluded a day with three wins and a tie, these teams were KRM Essen and KV Keistad.
 
The top scorer of the group stage was Aline Roulland (Acigne), who scored 8 times, 5 goals were scored by Annabel Wolff (KRM Essen), Sara Love Andersen (KRM Essen) and Noemie Ruault (Acigne), and 4 goals by Amparo Taberner (Club Alaquas), Clotilde Lemasle (Avranches), Nina Luginbuhl (Thurgauer Wildwasser Fahrerinnen), Alisha van der Berg (KV Keistad), Linda van As (KV Keistad) and Bethan Littlewood (Neptun).
 
Six groups with 25 teams from Germany, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, Great Britain, Netherlands, Sweden, France, Portugal, Poland, Denmark and Italy, were formed to find the best European canoe polo clubs of the year 2024 fighting for the European Champion title. On day one of the men’s tournament two teams concluded the group phase with all possible wins. This were FOA Liverpool in Group A and local favourites for the title – Canoa Club Napoli. Both teams played three matches on Saturday and celebrated a win in all of them. MKC Duisburg concluded a day in Group A with three wins and a tie, which put them into the top position in the group. In Groups D and F AKV Odysseus from Netherlands, Italian team Pro Scogli Chiavari and Avranches (FRA) won two matches and left one match with a tie. In group C KSVH Berlin, Corbeil-Essonnes and Ulster won two matches and lost one each.
 
The top scorer of the first round of the competition was Tim Kiecke from German team Duisburg with 10 goals. Jose Luis Aguilar (Real Club Nautico Castellon) scored seven times, and Andreas Iverson scored six goals for FOA Liverpool. Five goals were scored by Santaman McCutcheon (FOA Liverpool), Torben Gunzel (KSVH Berlin), Andrea Bertelloni (Pro Scogli Chiavari), Kristian Kleist (Neptun), Fabrizio Massa (Canoa Club Napoli) and Leo Dehainault (Avranches).
 
In men’s part of the tournament first two matches of the round 2 were already played on Saturday. Local club from Napoli beat Spanish representatives Real Club Nautico Castellon (5:4), and Retiro beat Pro Scogli Chiavari (3:0).
 
On Sunday, the 2024 ECA Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships will continue with another full day of exciting matches. There are more than 60 matches on the programme, including all medal matches.
