The Polish town of Kaniow hosted this year’s ECA Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships, where German clubs dominated both the men’s and women’s tournaments. KSVH Berlin claimed the men’s title, while MKC Duisburg celebrated victory in the women’s event.
Canoe polo fans in Kaniow were treated to two days of thrilling competition. A total of 36 teams took part, playing 113 matches. In total, 289 players represented their clubs, scoring 859 goals by 223 players from 35 teams.
In the women’s final, MKC Duisburg secured a convincing 3–0 win over ACIGNE N1D to take the title. The battle for third place saw Avranches I F defeat Keistad Dames 3–0. Canoe Rovigo finished fifth, followed by Canottieri Jonica SSD in sixth, KK Neptun in seventh, Athletic Burriana in eighth, SET Women in ninth, and MOSW Choszczno in tenth place.
At the top of the goal scorers’ list were Alisha van der Berg of Keistad Dames with 12 goals, and her teammate Linda van As, who added nine. Bethan Littlewood (KK Neptun), Maddalena Lago (Canoe Rovigo), and Annika Eichert (MKC Duisburg) each scored seven goals.
The men’s title also went to Germany, with KSVH Berlin defeating FOA Liverpool 3–0 in the final. The French side Avranches took third place, beating Powisle Warszawa 3–0. The remaining top ten positions were filled by Real Club Náutico Castellón, Rothe Mühle Essen, Corbeil-Essonnes, Odysseus A, CKB Oreiras, and TWF.
The top scorers of the tournament were Shani Benkatti (Corbeil-Essonnes) and Santanam McCutcheon (FOA Liverpool), each with 12 goals. Ivan (Avranches) and Leon Konrad (Rothe Mühle Essen) followed closely with 11 goals apiece.
