At the Eiskanal, athletes from Germany, Switzerland, North Macedonia, and Croatia competed in the fourth race of the 2025 ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup series. All wins but one were claimed by German paddlers, who were also contending for national titles.
In the men’s kayak event, Christopher Massini took the victory with a time of 50.80 seconds. He was 0.67 seconds faster than Marcel Blum, while Nicolas Niederle Gomez took third place, trailing by 1.23 seconds.
In the women’s senior kayak event, Luisa Puttkammer won with a time of 55.58. Anne Jager finished second, 1.5 seconds behind, and Lisa Kostle came third with a 1.77-second deficit.
In the men's canoe, the experienced Normen Weber was the fastest with a time of 55.66, followed by Ole Schwarz (+0.70) and Janosch Sulzer (+2.73).
Schwarz and Weber joined forces in the men’s C2 event, securing victory by more than two and a half seconds ahead of Roman Wirtz and Janosch Sulzer. Gregor Simon and Moritz Lipperheide took third place.
Normen Weber climbed to the top of the podium once again in the mixed C2 event with Birgit Simon. Eva Stein and Dominik Pesch placed second, with Janina Piaskowski and Johannes Baumann in third.
A non-German victory came in the U18 men’s kayak event, where Blagoj Guginov from North Macedonia won with a time of 55.51. Padrik Dietrich finished second, 1.18 seconds behind, and Enno Roggenbrodt came third, trailing by 1.26 seconds.
Ronja Kaya Haseloff was the best in the women's U18 kayak event, with Finja Staubach and Amelie Denner coming closest.
The event also featured masters competitors. In the Masters A category, David Pisakowski won ahead of Ljubomir Spasikj from North Macedonia, with Thomas Holscher in third. Once again, Normen Weber stood on the top step of the podium, this time in the Masters B men's kayak category. Josef Baumann and Sebastien Gressel finished second and third, respectively.
Thomas Gawehn, Gilles Calliet, and Arim Schafer were the top three in the Masters C category, while Gregor Simon, Wolfgang Kennel, and Olaf von Hartz claimed the top three positions in Masters D.
The next race in the 2025 ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup series will take place next weekend in Ceske Budejovice.
