Germany, Czech Republic and Russia excell in team events

Germany, Czech Republic and Russia excell in team events 2.10.2020

The first sets of medals at the 2020 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships have been awarded. Russia, Czech Republic and Germany can be especially satisfied after the team events as majority of the medals went to their hands.


Czech Republic concluded the team events with a total of three gold, one silver and two bronze medals, Russia won two gold and two bronze medals, while Germany picked up two gold, two silvers and two bronze medals. In addition, teams from Poland, France and Slovenia also reached the winners podium.
 
The first two team events of the second competition day have finished with the Russian celebration. Dmitrii Khramtsov, Mikhail Kruglov and Pavel Kotov celebrated European Champion title in men's U23 C1 event ahead of teams from Czech Republic and Germany.
 
The first celebration hasn't event concluded yet, when Kseniia Krylova, Alsu Minazova and Daria Kuznetsova picked up another gold medal for Russia. They were more than two seconds faster than representatives of Germany and Czech Republic in women's K1 U23 event.
 
Martin Kratochvil, Adam Kral and Krystof Lhota (CZE) were the fastest in men's junior C1 event, where France won silver medal and Poland was third.
 
German kayakers Antonia Plochmann, Emily Apel and Paulina Pirro won European Champion title in women's junior K1 event, ahead of Slovenia and Czech Republic.
 
Both titles in women's C1 events went to Czech Republic. Tereza Fišerova, Gabriela Satkova and Martina Satkova were the fastest in U23 category, where Germany finished second and Russia third, while in junior age category Veronika Janu, Tereza Kneblova and Klara Kneblova won gold for Czech Republic ahead of France and Germany.
 
Polish national anthem was playing in honour of Tadeusz Kuchno, Michal Ciaglo and Mikolaj Mastalski who were the best in men's junior K1 event. The team of France won silver medal and Russia was third. In men's U23 K1 event Germany with Noah Hegge, Lukas Stahl and Thomas Strauss picked up gold medal, Czech Republic was second and Poland third.
 
In the morning part of the programme junior and U23 heats were held in men's kayak and women's canoe events.  German Elena Apel produced the fastest run also in women's C1 event after she finished at the top already in yesterday's kayak heats. Senior World Champion Andrea Herzog (also Germany) finished second and reigning Senior European Champion Gabriela Satkova from Czech Republic was third. In men's K1 U23 heats Niko Testen from Slovenia finished in the first place, Tomaš Zima from Czech Republic was second and German kayaker Thomas Strauss was third. In women's junior C1 heats Tereza Kneblova (CZE), Elena Borghi (ITA) and Veronika Janu (CZE) were in the top three positions, while in men's junior K1 heats Noe Perreau (FRA), Jakub Krejči (CZE) and Jean-Charles Hacquart (FRA) were the best.  
 
On Saturday the competition programme brings semifinals and finals in women's K1 and men's C1 junior and U23 events.
