The 2017 ECA Canoe Polo European Championships in Saint-Omer, France, is in a full swing. The second day of tournament again brought 64 games in four categories – men, women, men U21 and women U21. The provisional standings in categories have changed slightly after the second day, but Germany, the 2017 World Games champion, still occupies the top positions in senior men’s and women’s part of the tournament. British men’s U21 team is in a provisional first place and Poland holds the top position in women’s U21 category.
Men’s German team, one of the main favourites of the tournament, is leading team in the provisional ranking of the European Championships held in Saint-Omer, located approximately 70 kilometres from Lille. Germany is currently in front of Netherlands and Italy in senior men’s part of the tournament after they showed excellent scoring form in a match against Austria, when Germany won 14 – 1. Germany also beat Spain with 5 – 1 today.

Germany is also in the top position in senior women’s tournament. Germany won 6 – 1 against Great Britain, 9 – 2 against Spain and 10 – 1 against Sweden. They are currently leading in front of France and Netherlands.
Great Britain recorded wins against Poland (5 – 3), Lithuania (4 – 3) and Spain (3 – 1) during the second tournament day of men’s U21 category. Germany is in a provisional second place and France in third in the rankings. In women’s U21 tournament Poland leads ahead of Germany and Great Britain in the provisional ranking. Poland beat Great Britain (5 – 3), Spain (4 – 3) and France (4 – 2).
The first medallists of the 2017 ECA Canoe Polo European Championships will be already known tomorrow. First the group stage matches are scheduled and they will be followed by classification matches in men’s and women’s U21 categories, including the quarterfinals and semifinals in men’s U21 category, semifinals in women’s U21 tournament and third place matches in mentioned categories. Women’s U21 final is scheduled for 18:00 and men’s U21 final for 18:45.
