Germany unbeatable at the ECA Canoe Polo Cup in Denmark 12.6.2017

Denmark hosted the second ECA Canoe Polo Cup tournament of the season 2017. Competitors from five countries enjoyed the new stadium built in May 2016. It was Germany who won both in men’s and women’s final of the tournament. Men’s team beat Denmark’s A team in the final, while it was a certain win for Germany in women’s final with Germany playing against the team Germany UA. Sweden finished third and Poland fourth in women’s event, while Denmark B and Sweden concluded the tournament in third and fourth place.


Representatives of Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Finland and Poland enjoyed the weekend in Skovshoved, a former fishing village located approximately ten kilometres north of Copenhagen. The second ECA Canoe Polo Cup tournament of the year was organised by Skovshoved Roklub which has a rich history and is one of the most important clubs as it was established back in 1938 and this club was also the one who introduced canoe polo in Denmark.
“International kayak polo players and spectators were excited about our new stadium and we were excited to try it out for a major international event. It was the first time the European Canoe Association (ECA) chose Denmark as a venue for one of the three annual European Cups in Canoe Polo and we have only received positive feedback for our venue and facilities,” said Peter Nielsen, chairman of Skovshoved Roklub.
