Heats in Bratislava are over, next come the 1000 metres finals 28.6.2024

On the second competition day of the 2024 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships in Bratislava - Zemnik, Slovakia, young athletes paddled in the last heats of the championships (the 200 metres events), and 1000 and 500 metres semifinals. Saturday will bring the first medal events.


The first two days of the 2024 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships are over and after Friday's 200 metres heats we already have also the first finalists of the shortest distance.
 
Young Polish kayaker Alex Borucki set the best time of men's junior K1 200 metres heats and will start in his third individual final A of the championships, following his advancements to the final in 1000 and 500 metres events. Orestas Rimsas (LTU) and Strahinja Dragosavljevic (SRB) were also the winners of their respective heats groups in MK1 200 junior event.
 
Slovenian kayaker Anze Pikon was the fastest in Friday's heats in men's U23 K1 200 metres event. Besides him Daniil Platash (UKR) and Riccardo Lonigro (ITA) already qualified to the final.
 
In women's K1 junior 200 metres event, Zita Bauer (HUN), Dominika Zimnoch (POL) and Clara Duarte (POR) qualified directly to Sunday's final after winning in their respective heats groups. In women's U23 K1 200 meters final we will see representatives of Ukraine, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Czechia and Portugal, while the remaining three finalists will be determined after the semifinal.
 
In women's C2 200 metres event Hungary, Ukraine, Lithuania, Spain, France and Germany are already qualified directly to the final following the heats results.
 
Jiri Minarik (CZE) was the fastest in men's U23 canoe heats over 200 metres. It is already known that he will fight for the medal in the final with Spanish, Italian, Polish, Ukrainian and Georgian competitors, while the last three finalists will be known on Saturday after the semifinal.
 
It was Vitalii Prystai from Ukraine who was the fastest in men's junior C1 200 metres heats. Paddlers from Spain, Czechia, Poland, Moldova and Hungary also already booked their tickets for the final.
 
Chloe Nicot (FRA) had the overall best time in women's C1 200 metres heats, followed by Hungarian Panna Gyore. Georgian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian and Spanish competitors are also already qualified to the final.
 
In women's U23 C1 200 metres heats Dora Horanyi (HUN) produced the best time in the heats, and she will compete for the European Champion title with representatives of Spain, Portugal, Poland, Moldova, Czechia and the best from the semifinal which will be known on Saturday afternoon.
 
On Saturday morning, the first medals will be awarded to the best in junior and U23 1000 metres finals. After the finals, the 500 and 200 metres semifinals are on the programme, which will give the names of the last finalists of Sunday's programme.
