Hungarian Canoe Federation recognised the best athletes of the season 2018 20.12.2018

Hungarian Canoe Federation organised traditional gala evening to celebrate their success in the year that is slowly coming to an end and to recognise their best athletes who had won medals at World and European Championships, Youth Olympic Games etc.


Not surprisingly Danuta Kozak won the award for the best female kayaker of the year. She won three gold medals at this year’s World Championships in Montemor-o-Velho and three medals at this year’s European Championships in Belgrade. Her husband and coach Bela Somogyi was named coach of the year. Balint Kopasz, silver medallist of the 2018 ECA Canoe Sprint European Championships in men’s K1 1000 metres event, received an award for male kayaker of the year, Andras Bodonyi was named best male canoeist of the year and Virag Balla is the best female canoeist in Hungary in the season 2018.
 
In Junior and U23 category awards went to the hands of Eszter Rendessy, Bianka Nagy, Benedek Kos and Adam Kocsis. Coach of the year in this category is Attila Nyerges.
 

 

 

With Hungary being a real superpower in canoe marathon the task of selecting the best was not an easy one. At the end Vanda Kiszli took the prize for female athlete of the year, thanks to World and European Champion titles. In men’s category Adrian Boros and Laszlo Solti were the best. They were European champions in Metković, and also had a medal at World Championships. Jozsef Kluka was named coach of the year.
 
The best parakayakers of the year 2018 became Katalin Varga and Robert Suba, while their coaches Attila Csamango and Tamas Gyorfi took the awards for their coaching work.
 
Golden Orders of Merit are awarded for special contribution to canoeing. This year the recipients were Andras Fuleky, Laszlo Sziklenka and Gusztav Kadler.
