Hungary remains canoe sprint superpower

Hungary remains canoe sprint superpower 1.11.2021

The third canoe sprint peak of the season after Olympics in Tokyo and European Championships in Poznan was the 2021 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships. This sporting event was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, to celebrate the 100 years of foundation of the Danish Canoe Federation.

The Lake Bagsværd and its natural surroundings offered a picturesque stage for the action-packed competitions at the 2021 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships. The biggest stars of canoe sprint showed top form also in the post-Olympic period, Hungary dominated the medals table and Danish competitors won five medals (one gold, one silver and three bronze medals) at their home course.

22 countries won at least a medal at this year's World Championships, 18 of them were European countries. Hungary topped the medals table with a total of 18 medals, six gold medals, eight silver medals and four bronze medals. Belarus finished second with eight medals and Ukraine was third with five medals.
