International congress of coaches in sprint canoeing in Spain adds canoe slalom to agenda 31.5.2018

The time has come and biannual international congress of canoeing coaches is coming again this fall. Between 26th and 28th October 2018 Galician village Catoira (located between Santiago de Compostela and Vigo, Spain) will turn into the epicentre of canoeing. For the eighth time the venue will host a congress of coaches in sprint canoeing and for the first time the organisers are adding canoe slalom topics and organising the first congress of canoe slalom coaches.


Over the three days of the event there will be presentations of renown world class canoeing experts, coming from different countries, among them speakers from Hungary, Italy, France, Great Britain, Slovenia, Ukraine and of course Spain. There will be additional workshops to accompany the congress. The workshops will focus on speed measurement, strength and power applied to canoeing, correct technique and execution of bodybuilding and strength exercises – injury prevention and kinanthropometry applied to canoeing.
 
 
Speakers, among them will be also Olympic Champions Maialen Chourraut, Saul Craviotto, Yuriy Cheban and two-times Olympic medallist Jon Schofield, will bring a lot of interesting topics and experiences, so there will be something for every taste.
 
 
The announced topics in canoe sprint and canoe slalom will bring the theoretical and practical considerations of kayak technique in flatwater, coordination and strength development exemplifications, doping and its threats, evolution and adaptation of Ander Elosegi’s technique from Beijing to Rio, women’s sports training and team boat formation, an approach towards slalom for young people, technical evolution and video arbitration system, statistics progression in competition, sport performance diagnostics, argustress technology for canoeists, epidemiology, types, prevention and treatment of canoeing injuries, improvement of speed in canoe-kayak and more.
 
 
Organisers have prepared different registration fees for different profiles. In the first group are students, attendants of previous editions of this congress and licensed coaches of the Royal Spanish Canoe Federation, in the second group are other profiles while the third profile brings special fees for groups of more than four people applying together.
