Iulian Şerban passed away at the age of 35

Iulian Şerban passed away at the age of 35 8.1.2021

Romanian Canoeing mourns the death of parakayaker Iulian Şerban who passed away at the age of 35.


Iulian Şerban was three times World Champion in LTA 200 metres event (2010, 2011, 2012) and two times silver medallist in the same event (2013, 2014). He was fourth at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in KL3 200 metres event.  He was also European Champion.
 
 
Iulian started his sporting career in canoeing in 1998 following the footsteps of his mother and brother, but his career was stopped after the accident. He slipped under the train, losing his right leg and suffering additional injuries to his left leg, head, spine, lungs and liver. Before returning to the boat he had undergone 20 operations.
 
 
We would like to express our sincere condolences to his family and friends. Iulian, rest in peace.
