Janez Kocijančič, President of EOC, passed away today 1.6.2020

European Canoe Association wishes to express sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Janez Kocijančič, president of the European Olympic Committees, who passed away this afternoon after serious illness.


Mr. Janez Kocijančič, who was also a great friend of canoeing, passed away at the age of 78 after an illness. In 2017 he was unanimously voted to the position of the president of the European Olympic Committees, after being vice-president of the EOC between the years 2013 and 2016.  He was executive board member of EOC from 2005.
 
Prior to that Mr. Kocjančič was president of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia from 1991 to 2014. He was also vice president of International Ski Federation (FIS) from 2010 and member of FIS executive board from 1981, from 1984 to 1988 he was president of Ski federation of Yugoslavia, and from 1974 to 1984 president of Ski federation of Slovenia.
