Jiri Prskavec is Czech paddler of the year 2019 3.11.2019

Czech Canoe Union awarded their best competitors in the season 2019 which was again very successful with medals at European and World Championships. Jiri Prskavec, canoe slalom paddler who won his second world champion title this year in La Seu d’Urgell, was named best sportsman of the year.


Jiri Prskavec won the Athlete of the year polling ahead of canoe sprinter Josef Dostal and canoe slalom paddler Vit Prindiš, who was this year’s European Champion.
 
“It was a very perfect year. Certainly I could have done better at the European Championships, but in our sport it is not possible to always win and sometimes something has to go wrong. I really appreciate this year and I will remember it for a long time mainly thanks to the little one who was born to us, but also thanks to the wedding. And the season is not a bad thing either, but in relation to personal life, it cannot be compared,” said Jiri Prskavec.
 
The best team of the year was canoe sprint K2 Josef Dostal – Radek Šlouf, who was fourth at World Championships in Szeged and secured a quota for Tokyo 2020. Prskavec, Prindiš and Vavrinec Hradilek were second in the team of the year category, while women’s K1 team with Katerina Kudejova, Amalie Hilgertova and Veronika Vojtova finished third.
 
The best junior paddler of the year is Gabriela Satkova, who won ahead of Antonie Galuškova and Tomaš Sobišek. The best wildwater canoeing paddler of the year is Martina Satkova, Jakub Brezina was named the best athlete in canoe marathon category, Dragon Foce Prerov was named best dragon boat crew, Campanula Ostrava is the best club in touring and the personality of the year is Petr Ptaček.
