It is with great sorrow we inform you of the passing of Kacper Gondek who lost his battle with illness at the age of 25.
Young Polish canoe slalom canoeist was one of the most promising athletes of his generation. During his sporting career he competed at Junior, U23 and Senior level European and World Championships as well as in World Cup series.
His biggest individual success came in 2010 when he became Junior European Champion in men’s C1 event and won silver medal in team event of the Junior and U23 European Championships in Markkleeberg. There he also competed in U23 C2 event and picked up bronze medal in team race. In the same year he was very successful at Junior World Championships as well, where he won silver medals in individual and team C1 events.
In 2013 he celebrated silver medal in men’s C1 team event of the ECA U23 European Championships in France as well as European Champion title in men’s C2 team event. He won a bronze medal at the 2008 Junior World Championships in C2 team event. In 2013 he finished second in men’s C1 team event of the U23 World Championships. In 2014 he became U23 World Champion in men’s C2 team event. In 2008 he competed at World Championships and was third in Junior C2 team event. In 2009 he became Junior European Champion in men’s C1 team event.
