Kamila Kubas officially ended her career

Kamila Kubas officially ended her career 11.1.2024

Polish paracanoeist Kamila Kubas officially announced the end of her sporting career in paracanoeing. The 40-year-old parakayaker, born in Malomice, was among the most recognisable athletes of paracanoeing family.

Polish parakayakar Kamila Kubas officially announced the end of sporting career in paracanoeing at her Facebook page on the last day of the year 2023. She was one of the most successful athletes. Her biggest success was undoubtedly bronze medal she won at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games, competing in KL1 class, where she crossed the finish line just behind Great Britain's Jeannette Chippington and Germany's Edina Muller. Kamila Kubas also won a medal at European Championships in 2016. At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, she competed in KL2 class, where she won in final B and thus left Japan with overall 9th place.

In her farewell to paracanoeing she wrote: "This year is slowly ending, and for me it is especially special. I can now officially say that I have finished my wonderful adventure with sports. It's hard to name every person who participated in these amazing 10 years spent in a kayak. I also realized that the place we are in now is the story of our entire lives. Our choices and the people who stood in our way. I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart to everyone who, even with the smallest gesture, contributed to my sports and life successes. I am grateful to life for every wonderful time, but also for the dark sides that make me stronger. Recalling a memory that I still feel emotional about is... when I first put on national team clothes with an eagle on my chest. I felt so proud that I was doing something special. I wish you a wonderful upcoming year, and all the athletes success in every level and in Paris 2024."
