Linnea Stensils wins U23 Ocean Racing World Champion title

Linnea Stensils wins U23 Ocean Racing World Champion title 20.11.2017

Hong Kong hosted the 2017 ICF Ocean Racing World Championships and European paddlers did well. Swedish canoe sprint athlete Linnea Stensils won the World Champion title in U23 category and French representatives picked up three more medals in U23 and U18 categories.

Stensils, who is also 2016 Rio Canoe Sprint Olympian, won the U23 World Champion title in women's event, after finishing 9th in the overall standings.

“I didn’t know when I crossed the finish line that I was first in the U23. I need to improve my aerobic capacity so this is very good training for me. It’s been good for me, motivation for going out at home in the cold. I’ve done three ocean races, and all have them have been flat. Hopefully next time there will be some waves,” said Stensils.

Laury Marie Sainte (FRA) was third in the same U23 event. France picked up two more medals in men's event. Valentin Henot finished third in U23 category and Hector Henot picked up silver medal in U18 event.

In women's 50-54 category Beatrice Weder di Mauro (SUI) finished second, while in men's 40-44 category European representatives Stewart O'Regan (IRL) and Paul Rosenquist (SWE) finished in second and third place.
