Buonfiglio received 71.97% (3,205 votes out of 4,453) of the votes, compared to 25.87% (1,152 votes) for Ottaviano Gueli, 1.10% (49 votes) for Daniele Scarpa, and 0.31% (14 votes) for Andrea Argiolas. The Ordinary National Assembly Elective, chaired by Professor Massimo Proto, saw a participation rate of 96.26% of eligible voters.

 

“I thank the entire canoeing community for their high turnout, almost total, in this election. This is a sign of strong attachment to the Federation and shows that there is passion, competence, and a desire to grow together. The Federation is an institution, but also a business and at the same time a family, and its most valuable asset is the people who make it. We have always dedicated attention to them and will continue to do so in line with our mandate, which sees sports clubs at the centre of all federal policies. We are ready and proud to continue our mission to win medals while also fulfilling our social function of inclusion and promoting the values of sport that have always distinguished us. I am proud to lead this Federation and I congratulate all the elected councillors, thank the federal secretariat for their support over the years, and dedicate this success to my family and all Italian canoeists,” said President Luciano Buonfiglio.
